Facility Information
Father Bill's & Main Spring (FBMS) is dedicated to ending - not managing - homelessness in our community. With support from local businesses, individuals, community providers, and the public, FBMS can make the belief that "nobody should be homeless," a reality. In order to truly end homelessness in Southeastern Massachusetts, Father Bill's Place takes a holistic approach that goes beyond emergency shelter.
FBMS deliver's a range of programs and services to meet the needs of each person facing homelessness. Father Bill's Place primary areas of focus are prevention, emergency shelter, housing, and work force development.
Back on My Feet Boston Executive Director Vic Acosta says, "We hope to complement the extraordinary programs and care FBMS provides to their guests. And we're also very excited to serve the southern part of our Boston area community and specifically Quincy. It was already apparent at the September 8th launch run that the team will be a close knit family and that is what FBMS and Back on My Feet are all about."

Member of the Month: Austin B.
When Austin Baker first joined BoMF’s Team Quincy at Father Bills last summer, he made it abundantly clear that he was serious about running. And he wasn’t kidding. In simmering summer heat, Austin would take off on team runs and lead the pack by barreling toward Wollaston Beach at a torrid pace that was hard match.
With an athletic build more suited for a linebacker, Austin took that same competitive drive and desire and put it to good use at a number of local road races doing very well in Hingham’s End of Summer Classic 5K, The Quincy Police Department’s 9/11 Memorial road race, and the Somerville Homeless Coalition’s 5K race in early October. In fact, when the more than 800 runners toed the start of the Somerville race, Austin positioned himself right in the front row with the rabbits, and put on a game face that left no doubt about his desire to succeed. Although he didn’t come in first that day, he turned in a great effort.
He advanced his racing portfolio credentials even further recently by clocking a 6:51 mile in the inaugural BoMF Boston Mile at the Derby Street Shoppes in Hingham. When interviewed after that race by the local press, Austin had this to say, “Once I became homeless, I made a pledge to get myself back on my feet and they’ve helped me out a whole lot. I love to run, it’s a passion that I have now.”
So what’s next on Austin’s racing agenda? The Chilly Half Marathon in Newton on November 13. He may not win that one, but rest assured that he will do well and set a pace that will generate a lot of heat at the Chilly. We are all very proud of Austin’s efforts and look forward to his continued success. We are delighted to name him BoMF Boston’s Resident of Month.
