Director of Communications, Massachusetts Commission for the Blind

Wayne, originally from Jamaica, is the Director of Communications for the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind. An accomplished public speaker, Wayne receives numerous requests from organizations to address their constituents about the importance of community-related endeavors. His accredited stance on many critical issues surrounding youth and families has led to his previous appointments to the Board of Directors for some of Boston’s leading non-profits organizations.

Wayne has been a competitive long distance runner since 1979 and has logged more than 100,000 miles. Although he doesn’t consider himself a marathoner, Wayne has competed in the Boston, Chicago, New York, Vermont City, Philadelphia, and Cape Cop Marathons and boasts a half marathon PB of 1:09 and a 2:34 for the marathon. As a member of the Boston Athletic Association’s (BAA) Board of Governors, he is a local fixture on the New England running scene, is passionate about running, and is an active advocate for the sport. During his spare time, Wayne manages RunBoston, a company that provides historical running tours in Boston, Cambridge, and Salem. Wayne, a graduate from the University of MA, Amherst, and his wife Danny lives with their three sons in Newton.

Nick Losurdo is an attorney at Goodwin Procter LLP, where he represents broker-dealers, equity and option exchanges and other financial services clients. Nick’s involvement with BoMF began in 2013 while he was living in Washington, DC, including as a member of the DC chapter Advisory Board and an active BoMF morning runner. Nick originally hails from the Boston burbs and joined the Boston Advisory Board after returning home to Massachusetts in 2015. Nick is an avid runner and especially enjoys trail runs with his wife and 2 dogs. Nick runs with Team Common Ground/Vets in Boston.

Brian is the Northeast Director of Sales Planning for Bimbo Bakeries USA, the largest baking company in the world with iconic brands such as Thomas, Arnold, Entenmann’s, and Sara Lee. BBU’s values are centered on the Person, so they are committed to preserving and giving back to the communities in which they live and serve. They strive to be a good neighbor through volunteer efforts and donations and contribute to the development of their communities. These values led to the relationship with Back on My Feet from a national and regional level.

Brian has worked in the retail food industry for 15 years with various roles on both the Retailer and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) sides of the business. Brian is an avid supporter and participant in various other charity endeavors such as Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger and the National MS Society’s Muckfest.

Brian received his BA from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He resides in Braintree, Ma with his wife and 2 young children, Bryce and Brynn. He loves all of the major Boston sports teams and enjoys cross training, playing golf, and lacrosse.

Peter Nixon is a Director of Sales for AT&T, responsible for managing wireless sales and retail operations for the New England region covering Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Mr. Nixon has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, having served a variety of sales leadership roles for wireless companies such as AT&T, Pacific Bell Mobile, Cingular Wireless, Cellular One, and SBC. His work in the field has produced significant results, including launching the Pacific Bell Mobile PCS market and strengthening of the New England region's wireless sales distribution system.

A graduate of Westfield State College and The University of Phoenix, Mr. Nixon currently resides on the South Shore in Massachusetts.

Billie Starks is a graduate of Smith College School for Social work, and has been delighted to work with Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program for the last four years. She began as the lead therapist for the Office Based Opioid Treatment Clinic at BHCHP, and over time has become more involved with a number of different initiatives. She has taken over direction of a primary care team which targets patients who are at highest risk for overdose death, and participates in street outreach efforts offer patients connection in their community. Billie has also assisted in implementing a new initiative in primary care and behavioral health integration at BHCHP’s BMC Clinic, in which patients can utilize “open access” behavioral health services.  Thus far there has been a dramatic increase in the number of patients who are seen by behavioral health clinicians. Billie was the recipient of the Dick Regan Award at BHCHP in 2014, which recognize staff members who personify a commitment to staff development, teamwork and relationship building. She is thrilled to have recently accepted the position of Director of Behavioral Health Services.

Billie moved to the Boston area after completing her MSW program. She is an avid runner, and has participated in the Boston Marathon twice to benefit BHCHP. Billie has also formed a partnership between BHCHP and Back on My Feet, building Team McInnis, acting as a team leader, and recruiting other volunteers and team leaders to enhance the team member experience. A quality improvement project is currently underway to better understand how participating in Back on My Feet impacts consumers of services at BHCHP. In addition to exercise, Billie is able to sustain her work by practicing meditation. She loves living in Cambridge, and frequents Fresh Pond, The Minuteman Trail, and the Charles River.

Deputy Chief Compliance Officer | Highfields Capital Management LP

Betsy Thedford is the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer at Highfields Capital Management LP. Betsy is originally from Texas and has worked with the asset management industry since graduating from the University of Colorado with a Masters in Accounting. Prior to joining Highfields Capital Management, Betsy worked at PwC for 10 years in Boston and London and earned her law degree from Suffolk University Law School. She is an avid traveler and enjoys scuba diving and hiking. Betsy has previously run with Back on My Feet and is excited to be more involved with such an empowering organization.

Ali leads the delivery network at Accenture Federal Services which provides industrialized, cost effective application services capabilities for multiple federal government agencies and commercial clients, at scale. He previously led Accenture's outsourcing transition/transformation capability in North America. He has led complex global transformations, location strategies, workforce development strategies and technology delivery centers. 

Ali’s outsourcing experience spans the entire lifecycle, from solutioning to continuous improvement. He has architected and led large global outsourcing transition and transformation programs for clients in retail, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and government sectors, including the Accenture transition of a federal government health insurance portal for citizens, which was unprecedented in the IT industry for its combination of pace, scale, complexity and visibility. His previous experience includes executing turnarounds for small and mid-sized companies and leading a start up.

Ali received an undergraduate degree in economics from the College of William and Mary, and a graduate degree in finance from Syracuse University. He lives in Milton, MA and enjoys playing squash.

Jan is Area Director, responsible for 18 Marriott Select Brand hotels in the Eastern Region. He began his hotel career 30 years ago as a front desk agent at the Boston Long Wharf Marriott. He resides in Westwood, MA with his wife Tammy and is the proud father of three daughters and two sons. He is honored to be associated with Back on My Feet Boston and support Marriott's nationwide involvement with this organization.

Andrea Cordova started volunteering with Back on My Feet as a team leader in 2014, and joined the Advisory Board in 2017. As a team leader, Andrea has been instrumental in motivating Back on My Feet’s members in the Boston area with her commitment and support to the program and advocate to the individuals. She is excited to offer her expertise to the Advisory Board and looks forward to playing a key role in growing Back on My Feet.   

Andrea works with technology partners in the area of Digital Marketing and Customer Experience.  She’s had a divers career with companies such as Monster Worldwide, IBM, and Microsoft. Currently, she is a Strategic Alliance & Partnership Executive with Adobe where her specialties include partner sales, developing partner strategies and programs to generate revenue and customer success.

Andrea is a member of the Advisory Board for Dreamfar, a non-profit organization that trains high school students for marathon running.  Andrea has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Northeastern University.
